What it is

The GetLayers MCP lets your AI coding assistant build design-led websites, custom 3D scenes, and wire your project up with cinematic video backgrounds automatically using the GetLayers library. It works with Claude Fable 5, Claude Sonnet 5, Claude Opus 4.8, GPT-5.5, GPT-5.6 Sol, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Grok 4.5, GLM-5.2, DeepSeek V4-Pro, MiniMax M3, and Kimi K3, and any other MCP-capable client.

  1. Build a whole site
  2. Design a 3D scene
  3. Pull any asset
  4. Video background

Claude Code

The one-step path installs the GetLayers tools and the skill that drives them, together.

Install the plugin (recommended)
/plugin marketplace add textura-agency/getlayers-plugin
/plugin install getlayers@getlayers
Copy this prompt into Claude Code
Set up GetLayers: run /plugin marketplace add textura-agency/getlayers-plugin then /plugin install getlayers@getlayers, enable the plugin, and allow the server when prompted. Then build me something with GetLayers — call getlayers_start first.

Prefer to add just the server? Point Claude Code straight at the HTTP endpoint.

Without the plugin
claude mcp add --transport http getlayers https://mcp.getlayers.ai/mcp
Copy this prompt
Add the GetLayers MCP server (HTTP, url https://mcp.getlayers.ai/mcp), then download https://storage.getlayers.ai/skill/getlayers/SKILL.md and follow it. Build me something with GetLayers — call getlayers_start first.

ChatGPT, Cursor & other clients

  1. Add the MCP server with URL https://mcp.getlayers.ai/mcp — in ChatGPT, add a connector; in Cursor, Windsurf, or Cline, add it to the MCP config.
  2. Paste the skill from https://storage.getlayers.ai/skill/getlayers/SKILL.md into the client's custom / system instructions for best results.
Copy this prompt
Use the GetLayers MCP (connected at https://mcp.getlayers.ai/mcp). Fetch and follow https://storage.getlayers.ai/skill/getlayers/SKILL.md. Always call getlayers_start FIRST.

Install just the skill

Any assistant with file access can run GetLayers from the skill alone — no server connection required.

Copy this prompt
Download https://storage.getlayers.ai/skill/getlayers/SKILL.md and save it to .claude/skills/getlayers/SKILL.md (create the folders). Then read it and follow it whenever I build with GetLayers.

What you can do with it

Five ways people use GetLayers. In every case, describe what you want in your own words — the more detail (and for scenes, the more reference images) the better.

  1. Build a website from scratchBeta

A complete, immersive site — start from a full template and reshape it, or compose something unique section by section. Everything shares one coherent style.

Build me a landing page for a premium AI analytics product — dark, cinematic, with a 3D hero. Use the helion template as a reference for the hero section.

  2. Design a custom 3D scene

Describe the mood and motion and attach reference images; GetLayers synthesizes an original scene from its library's techniques.

Design a 3D hero scene: slow-drifting metallic particles forming a vortex, deep navy with a gold spark. Here are two reference screenshots. Make it feel calm and expensive.

  3. Browse the library and pull an asset

Grab one specific thing — a 3D scene, a section (carousel, FAQ, pricing…), a video background, or a whole template — and drop it into what you're building.

Find me a glassy, editorial pricing section and add it to my page.

  4. Wire your project with premium backgrounds

Describe the mood; GetLayers finds the closest cinematic background and wires it in full-bleed, tinted to fit your design.

Add an ambient, dark, slow-moving video background behind my hero — something organic and calm.

  5. Add motion & 3D to an existing projectBeta

Point it at your repo. It reads your code first, then proposes where a scene, scroll motion, or a background belongs, and pulls the right pieces from the library.

Look at my site and make it feel alive — add tasteful motion and a 3D moment where it makes sense.

Tips

  • Give references. Naming an existing GetLayers template, section, or scene — or attaching images — dramatically improves results.
  • See before you choose. Every asset comes with a preview link and a short preview video you can watch.
